Splinter Oath is a pixel-art turn-based RPG. It's free, with no ads, no paid copy, and nothing to buy. Play it in the browser on desktop or phone, or download it for Windows, macOS, Linux or Android.

Fame, then a trial

Take jobs off the board, hunt in the wilds and map out dungeons. When the fame bar fills, the guild offers a trial. Beat the boss and the ledger gives you the next rank. There are eight regions and eight trials, from the Millhaven Meadows to the Broken Seal.

Foes have habits

• Boars and poachers wind up heavy blows. Guard, and you take half and gain Tempo.
• Bandits and thornlings wear plate. Bash cracks it.
• Rats and wolves come in packs. Hit them all at once.

The line under each foe tells you which one you're facing.

Four ways to sign

• Vanguard: plate, Guard, Bash, Cleave
• Shade: knives, Mark, Slip, Smoke
• Cantor: a staff, Bonk, Ward, Bloom
• Wayfarer: a bow, Snare, Volley, Whistle

Plain terms

• Free. No ads, no paid copy, no in-game purchases.
• Lose a fight and you wake at the mill a bit poorer. You keep your gear, your marks and your rank. Hardcore mode is there if you want it to hurt.
• Saves automatically on your device, in that browser or app.

Downloads

• Browser: press Run game above.
• Windows / macOS / Linux: unzip SplinterOath-PC.zip and open index.html. Nothing to install.
• Android: install SplinterOath-Android.apk. If you had the old "Splinter Oath Paid" app, uninstall it first. That starts a new save.
